The Gospel
Come to the Light: The Gospel Invitation to Know God
There is a longing in every human heart that can only be satisfied by the presence of God. No matter where you are in life, no matter how far you feel from Him, I want to share with you the most beautiful truth that has ever been spoken — God loves you. He desires a relationship with you. He calls you to come to Him, to experience His love, peace, and purpose in your life. And that, my friend, is the message of the Gospel.
The World is in Need of Hope
Our world is filled with uncertainty. People search for meaning in possessions, accomplishments, relationships, and pleasure, but all of these things fall short of giving true fulfillment. Have you ever wondered if there’s more to life? Have you ever felt a sense of emptiness that nothing can seem to fill?
The truth is, this emptiness exists because our hearts were created to know God. We were made for something far greater than what the world offers. There is a hunger for something eternal, a desire for something deeper. And this longing is a sign that there is a God who created you with purpose and has been pursuing you all along.
As it says in Ecclesiastes 3:11, "He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart." We were created with a yearning for the eternal, and only God can fulfill that yearning.
God’s Love for You
God is not distant or disconnected. He is a loving Father who created you in His image. The Bible tells us in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." This is the heart of the Gospel: God, in His great love for you, sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to save you from sin and death.
Jesus lived a perfect life, free from sin, but He took the punishment for our wrongdoings upon Himself when He died on the cross. This was no ordinary death; it was a sacrifice made for you and me. His blood was shed so that we could be forgiven. But the story doesn't end there. Jesus rose from the dead, conquering death and offering us new life.
In Romans 5:8, it says, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” This is a love that does not wait for us to be perfect. He loved us while we were still in our brokenness and sin.
The Good News
The good news is that you don’t have to stay in darkness. You don’t have to remain lost. God is offering you a way out, a way to be reconciled to Him. Romans 10:9 says, "If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
This is the invitation: Will you accept the love of God and believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior? He is the way to eternal life. Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” It’s not about being good enough or trying to earn your way to God. It’s about believing in Jesus, who paid the price for your sins, and trusting in Him for salvation.
As Acts 4:12 proclaims, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
A Relationship, Not a Religion
Christianity is not about following a set of rules or rituals. It’s about knowing God personally. Jesus didn’t come to establish a religion; He came to invite you into a relationship with Him. A relationship where you are forgiven, loved, and accepted exactly as you are.
In this relationship, God speaks to us through His Word, the Bible. He also gives us the Holy Spirit, who comforts, guides, and empowers us to live a life that reflects His love. As we walk with God, we begin to experience the peace, joy, and purpose that we were created for. As it says in Philippians 4:7, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
How to Know God
If you are feeling that tug on your heart, that stirring within you, don’t ignore it. God is calling you today. Here’s what you can do:
- Acknowledge your need for God. Realize that you cannot find true fulfillment or peace apart from Him. Sin has separated you from God, but Jesus is the bridge that brings you back. Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
- Believe in Jesus Christ. Believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died for your sins, and that He rose again to give you eternal life. John 1:12 tells us, "Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God."
- Repent of your sins. Turn away from the things that have kept you from God and choose to follow Him. Ask for forgiveness, and He will forgive you. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
- Confess Jesus as Lord. Declare with your mouth that Jesus is your Savior, and believe in your heart that He has forgiven you and made you new. Romans 10:10 reminds us, "For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."
- Begin a relationship with Him. Spend time in prayer, read the Bible, and join a community of believers to grow in your faith. Matthew 6:33 encourages, "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
The Promise
If you choose to place your faith in Jesus, you are not just receiving forgiveness. You are receiving a new life. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"
God promises to be with you through every trial and triumph. He promises to never leave you or forsake you. Hebrews 13:5 tells us, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." He promises peace that transcends understanding and joy that cannot be taken away.
As Romans 8:38-39 reminds us, "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
A New Beginning
This is the Gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ. It’s an invitation to a new beginning, a life filled with purpose, hope, and eternal joy. No matter where you’ve been or what you’ve done, God is ready to welcome you into His arms. His love is greater than your past, and His grace is sufficient for all your shortcomings.
Will you take the step toward Him today?
If you have questions or want to talk more about knowing God, I encourage you to reach out, find a Bible, and seek out a church where you can grow in your faith. You’re never too far gone, and God is never too far away. Come to the light, and let His love transform you.
